All,

I came across this one bottom plow this morning on my travels. I can't tell what brand it is as the stickers are worn off. It does have a depth wheel on the backside of the moldboard that is hard to see.

Any ideas or suggestions? I'd like to put it to work preparing some new garden beds.

Thanks..!! Single bottom plow.jpg

Wonder how it attaches to the tractor? The hitch linkage is certainly not the standard. I wonder if it was made for a specific tractor. Obviously it is very light duty, made to be pulled by something small and over ground fairly soft and previously worked. But guess you knew that already. Maybe someone else recognizes it.

the lift arm pins are all that I see missing. Should do a fine job on a garden .

I picked up some lift arm pins at TSC. I'm hoping to get them on tonight and try a bit of work in a new garden spot.

Setting up a moldboard plow is an art. Google "moldboard plow" or go to Everything Attachment. I think Peanut and the gang have a video on setup and operation of moldboard plows.

It appears to have no shear pins of trip spring protection. So go easy, watch for roots and rocks, and be ready to use the clutch. I had a heavier old Ford plow and bent the frame and broke grade 8 bolts when I hit an unseen obstruction.

Thanks for the great advice. Fortunately here in SW Louisiana, the soil is deep and loamy or deep and sandy without a rock in sight. I'll take it easy and see how it works and let y'all know.

I have a plow that looks just like this. Made by brindley. It works great on my 1026r . Turns over stalks and trash well.

I think the shear bolt is being hidden by molboard. With my sub compact doesn't matter. Big rock or root just stops tractor.

Yep, Brinly made a lot of them. Sometimes they were rebadged with other companies names. Most of them still around are sleeve-hitch design. I had one for a while too.

I hooked it up and put it to work this weekend. For my first time plowing, I was pretty happy with the results.

That plow was made for <20hp garden tractors. I'm surprised you didn't break the shear pin. Oh well, I bet you had fun doing it!

Bigtiller,

I was wondering about that. Fortunately my soils are really pretty easy to work with. I have a nice silty loam that I plowed up for the garlic patch, and honestly, my old 1963 Ford 2000 barely knew it was there.

And yes, it was a lot of fun..!!
