Four wheel steering

My neighbor has a Honda lawn tractor with four wheel steering (rear wheels turn also to greatly reduce the turning radius) and four wheel drive. It also has a category 0 3pt hitch. He's had it for over 5 years and I don't know what he paid for it. I didn't realize it had four wheel steering until he mentioned it yesterday. This was the first lawn tractor with four wheel steering I've ever seen. Have any of you seen this? What brands have it? I'm not looking to buy a new lawn tractor, since my Craftsman is still serving me well, I'm just curious.

I believe..name brand..<font color=red>White<font color=red><font color=black> also has a 4 wheel steering lawn and garden tractor to offer.

Kubota and John Deere also have garden tractors with 4 wheel steering.

4 wheel steering is available on some of GM's 2003 model trucks. Pretty impressive on the ads. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think Honda originally came out with that model around 1986. That's when I bought my smaller Honda HT3813 lawn tractor. The 4 wheel drive/4 wheel steer tractor was a nice unit (Model 50XX?, maybe 5018?). I believe it went for around $5000 back in '86, without any accessories.

Funny, it's memories of that tractor that started me on my quest for a larger tractor almost 3 years ago. After a bit of research, I discovered Honda pretty much abandoned that market. That started me looking at other units, and ultimately led me to my Kubota B2910.

You can still find those Honda tractors occasionally listed under used equipment. My understanding is that accessories are no longer available from Honda. (A loader was an option. A small backhoe might have been another. I'm not sure on that.)

My feeling is that those Honda tractors were about a decade and a half ahead of their time. With the current popularity of compact utility tractors, this unit might be a worthy competitor to the small CUT (BX's and the like) market.
