</font><font color="blue" class="small">( It's probably no more dangerous than working with gasoline. )</font>
Really /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Gasoline has a flash point of -40 degrees C (-40 F) Just because we use gasoline everyday does not make it safe, in fact gasoline if pretty dangerous stuff. It has one of the lowest flash points which makes it VERY easy to ignite.
Flash point is the lowest temperature at which a liquid can form an ignitable mixture in air near the surface of the liquid. The lower the flash point, the easier it is to ignite the material.
Here are some chemicals and flash points in (oC). Acetone -18, Benzene 11, Butyl alcohols 24-29, Ethanol 12, Methanol 10, Toluene 4. Gasoline has a flashpont of MINUS 40F!
If you are going to "PLAY" with this stuff do it outside with a lot of ventilation. If the vapors collect and find a place to ignite it will result in a flash fire or explosion. Remember with 99% of flammable liquids the vapors are heaver then air so will be at your toes.
Bottom line be SAFE when playing with flammable liquids. Do not become too complacent and know the hazards and what can happen. It will all be over in a few seconds if you make a mistake. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Burning to death has to be the one of the worse ways to go, a lot of pain and usually takes a while before you die. I have a few firefighter friends burned in a fire. They did not die but the months of treatment and loss of fingers and ears was not something I would like to see anyone go through.
