Freezer on the Bottom Refrigerators

We have one of those fridges with just a tiny freezer in the lower corner next to the crisper trays. Only big enough for a couple of ice cube trays, the ice bin, and a couple of half gallons of ice cream.
WE LOVE IT! It's been the best fridge ever. So roomy and easy to get stuff in and out. Now that the kids are grown and out, this style fridge is STILL so useful. 'Fits everything we need, and there is always the ice cream ...
The freezer is downstairs. Fresh fruit only comes for a few months, but the freezer allows us to enjoy all year round.
berries, and veggies too. Bags of them in plastic bins. We could never be satisfied with a "regular" fridge/ freezer combo. No use pretending...

That type and most bottom freezers with ice and water dispensers in the door, use cold air brought up from the freezer section.

We upgraded to one of these a few years ago (LG). We like it but the LG has problems with the lights staying on in the fridge part (finally figured that out and took the bulbs out). The auto ice maker sometimes over fills the ice bin and when you open the freezer it knocks a few out the back of the bin, which end up on the floor in front... I would get one again, but not the LG.

We had a freezer on the bottom in our last house, and one of those big Sub-Zero side-by-sides in the new house. We HATE the Sub-Zero and really miss our bottom-freezer setup. The freezer space is really not all that usable in the side-by-side for anything large (like big frozen pizza boxes) and we have one of the bigger ones. The Sub-Zero is an older one that was already in the kitchen, and we NEVER would have bought it ourselves. When we get around to updating the kitchen, we'll definitely go back to the bottom freezer design.

No auto ice maker, and no cold water in our unit.
Fridge control and freezer controls are separate devices, but there is a little gated airway from freezer to crisper drawer. Frigidair brand
I can't tell is the light stays on inside, but I worry about it sometimes when I can't sleep at night ;-)
Simple is best!

I've got a Maytag French door with freezer on bottom. The auto ice maker overfills constantly spilling ice all over the floor every time the freezer door is opened. The inside water dispenser line is always frozen (the service tech from Maytag told my wife it's because there is too much food on the top shelf)-really??- Long story short I'd never buy another, You don't realize how often you want ice until you have walk all over the kitchen to clean it up. Give me old school, freezer on top. Remember harvest gold & avocado green

We have French door type,two doors on top,freezer on bottom. Only problem with ours,Sears brand,is the ice maker. It is located in the frig part,and my wife constantly runs it out of ice. They replaced ice maker,only to satisfy me,said nothing wrong with original. Looked at manual,only makes 2lbs of ice per day. Check ice maker output!
