Freight cost (Chicago to Syracuse)

Does anyone know what it might cost me to ship a 60" snowblower from Chicago to Syracuse, NY?

Where should I look for a good rate?

I just got a $325 quote for a 52" snowblower to be shipped from New York to Green Bay. It weighs close to 400#.

I was also looking at a Core Aerator yesterday and shipping from Charlotte to Syracuse was only $123...the distance is about the same.

Does your employer get in or ship out on LTL (less than load) carriers? Friends? Family? I know that we get a 73% discount off of the online price with one of our carriers. If I wanted to ship something in, we just let the plant controller know, and pay the bill when it arrives. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I know that 1000# from NE Georgia to Munice Indiana costs around $120.

Watkins is another option, sometimes less expensive than Yellow Freight

I had my Power Trac PT425 shipped from Virginia to Indiana with 7 implements for about $500.00. They used Over Nite Freight. I believe it was around 2500#.

I also had a fiberglass toyota land-cruiser body shipped from California to Indiana for about $500.00 a few years ago. It was about 200#. That was with Yellow Freight.
