From a B3030HSDC to a Toolcat?

Rolando,

Holy Cow! These guys are really starting to sound really jealous of Toolcats. Who said a Toolcat could do it all? Who said a Tractor could do it all? Nobody! One things for sure, a Toolcat can do more than my CUT can and with ease. I'm seriously considering selling my CUT when my Toolcat comes in.

1) If your maintain a "country club" type property and you need a "perfect" cut you need a Walker ZTR mower, not a B3030. Most folks don't have a putting green in thier front yard. I think you'll be impressed with the cut

2) With mower and operator my Hustler mower weighs in at over 1000lbs. There was far more damage done by my Hustler ZTR doing a 180 turn than the 5000lb AWS Toolcat.

3) Compaction Concerns? Get the lower PSI turf tires after your finished clearing your lot

4) Fact: Mowing/Brush cutting is far easier and visibility is better with the deck out front. I have neck and back problems from looking back so much.

5) Fact: Sharp blades, "not" tip speed have more to do with a quality cut. In approx. 3 seconds you lift the toolcats deck 84" to easily remove the blades, and clean out grass. The buildup of grass will reduce lift. Servicing the mower deck of the Midmount B3030???? Let's just say, I hope you have a lot of extra time and energy!

6) Maintainence: Can you change oil and filter? Can you change and air filter? Can you use a grease gun? I certainly hope so. Othewise, you ain't gonna to break a darn thing on this machine clearing 5 acres!

7) Someone said you could hire someone to clear your land: I charge $65.00 labor per hour, plus equipment, fuel, and round trip transport. Rolando, with the Toolcats resale value you could buy a Toolcat, do the work yourself, sell it on ebay when your finished and "still" save thousands over hiring someone like me.

8) Fact: The Toolcat is cheaper than the B3030? How you may ask? Buy both, spend the next year clearing your property and trade them both in. The dealer will offer you around 5k less than you paid for the Toolcat. You'll be offered approx. half of 23K you paid for the B3030HSTC with MMM, and FEL.

9) The Toolcat can't load itself? Da! You can't get anything past these guys.

If the B3030 and the Toolcat were the same price, Bobcat would have to build another plant. Follow me on this one CUT guy's.

Ro,

It's good that you're thinking it through. The Toolcat will be nothing less than a blast to own.

If you end up with one and it kills yours grass, you can sell the mower and put the money toward a zero-turn. Maybe consider getting the mower later after you have the machine for a bit. Try to secure a price with the dealer for a post-package rate. I just can't imagine trying to mow a nice lawn with that machine. Talk to some people about it's mowing capabilites.....long term use issues before you buy the deck.

Not sure where I got 8,000lbs. I meant to say 4,000. Sorry about that.

It is not a lawn mower and has not been marketed as such...

Ji,

It was not I that called it a mower, but SkyPup...I am fully aware of the range of the Toolcats capabilities and would never error like this! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Steve

Oh, and by the way, yes, the Toolcat was well-designed to replace a SS, tractor and off-road truck, per Bobcats website. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Toolcat general description
That is why the Toolcat has received multiple design awards. Toolcat awards list/Specs
Including as you can see a Farm Industry News Award.
And here are some interesting design notes on the Toolcat
Engineers' Notebook
I understand your inexperience, as your friend that has a Toolcat obviously never let you borrow it as he is probably too busy using it. Good Luck & Learning!

Jim,
That's a good plan, because I won't need a mower until I finish building the house (no grass yet). And that's a good amount of expense that I can put off, no matter how I end up going.

Steve,
Did you by any chance order the 'Keyless Start Security System'? Mike ("BigDaddy") was telling me about it. You also get more monitoring functions on an LCD screen.

Rolando,
No, I did not, but it sounds pretty cool. Do you know the price of it or if it can be dealer installed? If it could monitor hydraulic flow, it would be a great asset. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Thanks,
Steve

I actually got this information from "BigDaddy":

"$575.00 more for the keyless start security system. It not only provides security, but the LCD screen allows you to monitor more functions like the all important Hyd. fluid temp"

I don't know if it can be dealer installed. Maybe BigDaddy can give us more details.

I've gotten some conflicting information on the Keyless Start System. As I mentioned above, BigDaddy had told me that as well as the start security, it also gave other information on machine status like the temperature of hydraulic oil. My local dealer gave me similar information.

However, I had sent an email to Bobcat asking about this and was finally able to talk to someone today. He said that while you can also lock out 4WS, limit velocity, and some other things, no additional information on performance is provided. This option is not very well documented, the only thing he was able to tell me initially was the obvious that you would need a code in order to start the machine. But he couldn't find any other information on the literature he had, and had to go ask other folks and then called me back later with the other information.

It gets even more interesting. I sent a second email to Bobcat asking about the Keyless Start System earlier this week, because I had never gotten a response to the first one.

Several hours after I got the call I mention in the previous post, someone from Bobcat called me again and left a voice message this time. The curious thing is that he said there was no Keyless Start System option, and the only way you could turn on the tractor was with a key. Looks like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing!

I have Bobcat Keyless start, et al, on my 430 excavator and A300 SSL. I like it but watch out if the keypad fails. It did on my 300 and shut me down until the service truck could show up.

It can be dealer added on those, not sure on the toolcat. Of course that costs more and just try to get a discount on a dealer/parts dept item.

Not sure how secure it really is but when you consider that most equipment keys are the same for all machines within a brand/size class, anything would be better.

Friend of mine told me to use his JD 6420 to load some stuff I was buying from him while he was out, no key so I went over to a neighbor's and borrowed the key hanging out of a 4400 CUT. No problem.

The original reason behind keyless was rental yard use. It also has job time acccumulation and other features, but...

I have pretty extensive monitoring (hyd, oil, etc, pressures, temp, even built in help for attachments and more) on the A300 but the electronic panel on the 430 is more basic and monitors next nothing.

I'm betting the Toolcat DOES have that option. Haven't looked at one recently since I like staying married.

And remember, unlike a SSL, etc, the Toolcat actually has a Steering wheel. Downtown!

Jim
