Yes farmer, it does have a pump. It is geared to really spin up off the pto. Most likely be a good one of the pto of the tractor, never thought about it much. It is ccw so would run right off the tractor pto.
With the amount of rain we get around here, after swimming in it all fall, winter and spring, I don't care to go swimming in the summer.
It is a complete unit as it sits. Haven't canibalized it at all. Only thing for me to take off is the rear spotlights and the siren.

Thank you for the idea for the hose reel. I might salvage that if someone doesn't want the tank asis.

Renze, Yes the wood is there to stay. It is clean fir and has been there for 38 yrs so I figure it will last me just fine. Wood is all I have ever seen between the truck frame and subframes of the trucks until they come up with plastic.
As far as flexing, channel iron will give with the truck frame so I am not worried about any cracking. Don't figure on using it as an off-road rig.

few more pics. Put the ladder on the left front, and tacked on the deck. Will finsh that up and take care of the cabguard tomorrow.
I'm happy with the hieght of the lift. I don't think much will stick on that except wet dirt and clay.

I'd hang onto that hose reel and find something to do with it. Good hose reels are expensive, let alone motorized ones.

Otherwise I'd be glad to take it off your hands...

Finally finished the welding today. Put a coat of ospho on the whole thing top and bottom. Of course it started to rain again so painting is out of the question. Too damp, even in the shop.
It turned out pretty good with the cabguard. I did the upper half with expanded metal. Was thinking of tapering the upper part to conform to the cab, but went straight up instead. Far as looks go, hey, it's a work truck, not a parade limo.

Oh well, now for the trailer hitch. Did I say finished with the welding? Just one more project lol.

Well folks, this has been the build. the bed and all is finished, it works great and looks nice.

Now for the rest of the story. Remember about the gear change. Oh boy, what fun. First of all I have a mod 170, they only made two sets of gears for that. A fellow up in Seattle got to looking for me and found that he would fix me up with some 4.88's out of a 172 mod.

Ok, get it going, ordered from someplace back east. took my punkin up figuring that they would slip into my unit. Wrong, waited another week for the carrier and a call and went up for it. As it was a bit heavier duty," set up for diesel", it used a different axle too, same length though so all is good. Went home happy, slid the carrier into the housing, great.
Went to slip the axles in and no way, they are too big to slip in. I am on the phone, they are .17 larger. He said just hone it out a bit, should fit. Oh yes, well a day on that and no way.

Well that two speed started looking pretty good. I tore it down to the last nut and it looked fine. Took the brakes drums and shoes and all off the original housing and put it on the twospeed. Just put it all together today and should have it back in the truck tomorrow. I figure the twospeed will be better anyway. And the fellow said he would give me my money back for the setup he sold me.

All in all it has been quite a frustration, but the end project will serve me well for a long time.

will post a couple of picks when she is sitting back on rubber.

Finally, got sidetracked for a bit, but it is done. The twospeed works well and rolls down the highway at a decent speed.
