Pulling a stump in reverse something started skipping in the front end. Well 4 wd you could not use, the left front wheel locks up. So I used 2wd, now the 2wd is locking up.

should I drop the whole differential off and work on the whole thing? Is that whats probably wrong?

If it were me I would start by removing the drain plugs on the axle and where I found metal I'd investigate further, might help you pinpoint whether it on one of the ends or in the center.

I suspect you are now missing some teeth on your ring gear.
