Moving some scrap wood around yesterday with FEL at the building site and noticed a wet trail to pile. Stopped and looked and the front axle was leaking fluid. Couldn't tell where, but I knew that wasn't good. Stopped my work and loaded the tractor. By the time I got it loaded, somewhat slanted down toward the rear, no fluid left in the axle.

Took it to dealer and they will look at it. I sure wasn't expecting something like this from a Kubota.

I just had my BX24 in the shop for some other work, and they told me the front hubs were leaking. There was no evidence of leakage outside the axle, but they were leaking within. The service manager told me that the corporate offices had sent out a memo the all service depts to pull any front ends they found leaking and replace the entire assembly with a new one. They wanted the whole thing sent to corporate so that they could troubleshoot it as a unit. I don't know if they 2660 would be involved in this, but it may be. FWIW.

My front axle is leaking on my bx2200, but mine is leaking at the pivot point in the center. I figure it just needs a couple of seals replaced, but haven't had the chance to get the parts. Plus it looks a little involved. So for now I just check the level before usage and place a bucket under it when parked in the garage. It is just a minor leak, but I suspect it will turn into a bigger leak eventually.

Mine was major, basically a stream more than a drip. After seeing some other posts, not sure if it was at the pivot point or power steering cylinder. Haven't seen a cut away diagram yet to see how all this fits together. I had assumed that the power steering and front axle fluid was all the same. Maybe my dealer can tell me something soon.

Other than checking the levels manually to see if there's a loss of fluid, how would you even suspect something like that? I have little mechanical knowhow...how does an axle leak "within"?

My bx1500 started leaking at the pivot recently. It's a minor leak also. I did change out the super UDT for 80W-90 Gear oil, and that seems to have slowed the leak some, but hasn't stopped it completely. Just curious, what oil are you running in your front axle? And how many hours on your bx2200? Also, when you decide to repair the leak, I would be really interested to read about how it goes. I'm not sure if it's a job I want to take on.

They can be the same fluid, but not from the same source. Change your axle to gear oil and it will be obvious.

Adjusting the center pivot is trivial. That bolt just wants to be slightly snug.

I have superUDT in it. The tractor has between 500-600 hours, so not too many hours and I don't beat the tractor. I do use it, but not abuse it.

I figure it isn't leaking too bad, so I will probably let it go for a while and see what happens.

Got the tractor back from dealer today. They say the power steering hoses had wear marks and that is where the leaks developed. Not sure if it was a bad routing from the factory, but they moved them some and said it should be fine now. They also said it took almost 2 gallons of fluid to refill. Don't suspect damage, but I guess time will tell.

Good warranty service from my dealer (Tag Equipment, Chattanooga)
