Kubota L3940; 1942 Farmall H (for sale)
I am thinking of getting a front blade for my L3940 for plowing my 1/3 mile driveway (120' vertical change). My local dealer carries a "local" Wisconsin brand, Berlon. Here's the link to the blade: Skid Steer Snow Blade, Snow Plow Attachment | Berlon. I'd get the 84". With a shoe kit and cushioning valve, I have quote of $2,525. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a nice plow, and 1500 less than what I just paid for a LP 8'er.

That looks like a nice blade.
Just find out the weight and make sure it's not too heavy for your compact tractor.

Dealer says it weighs 725lbs. Specs on the loader are: Lift to full height (at pin): 1,867 lbs [846 kg]; Lift to full height (at 500mm): 1,415 lbs

If that price includes the hydraulics(third function) it's a very good deal.Looks like a very nice plow.

Just remember, implement weight on the three point hitch transfers weight/traction to the rear wheels through the two Lower Links and to the front wheels through the Top Link.

A plow on the front lifts weight off the rear wheels and transfers some to the front wheels. You will need functioning 4-WD for sure and probably tire chains, front or front and rear, depending on conditions and what tires are on the L3940.

You may be happier with a rear/angle blade or snow blower on the three point hitch, rather than a plow in front.

Implement/plow functions on a Skid Steer, fundamentally a PUSHING machine, are NOT a guide to how same will work on a tractor, fundamentally a PULLING machine.

I would question the dealer closely, especially as to return policy.

Jeff,

The plan is to use my 84" rear blade kicked out and angled to help push the sides back. I have AWD, R4's and filled rears.

The dealer did warn me about tweaking the loader.

I would say you are ready. Good plan to have the rear blade back there for traction. R4s, filled. NO FEAR.

Let it snow, let snow, LET IT SNOW.....but not in Florida.

This blade started out as a 100 gal upright LP tank front&rear plow.jpg made everything but the hoses & hyd cyl. It is used on my 900" and also off property.
