( LMTC--My experience with Koyker was somewhat different. ) How is that different? What would you expect them to do? What did the selling dealer do, or offer to do? Were you in Arizona when you bought it?

Your dealer should be able to identify what part is failing (the valve or the cylinder) and replace it under warranty vs. sending it back to SD.

Wayne and Buck--
I took my tractor to the Yanmar dealer. My YM240D had fresh hy-trans in it. Bought the new Koyker backhoe and a shop-built loader, with installation, $7200 cash. When I returned in a week, the dealer said I had some tranny problems. The gears were grinding when I loaded up the tractor to drive 100 miles home. I found the tranny problem, no juice in the tranny. I haven't returned to that dealer. Not everyone is like you guys, and you know that, you do your work better than most.

My point remains though...you imply in your earlier post that Koyker did not do enough regarding your backhoe problem (you said your experience was different than mine, to me that implied it was not good) when they suggested you send it to them for repair. Again I ask...what did you expect Koyker to do? Your most recent post sheds no light on the backhoe problem. I regret that you are having a problem with your equipment, but I still haven't seen you clarify how Koyker failed to do something they should have done.

You jumped from a post about a BH boom dropping and Koyker offering to fix it but being 600 miles from you to a post about the dealer not putting fluid in the transmission. I've missed the connection (seriously...I'm not trying to be sarcastic at all).

I hope that Koyker offered to have the warranty work done locally, though, rather than asking you to ship the unit half a continent away. I know I would't call it good service if Ford asked me to ship my truck back to Detroit for warranty work when I bought it at a local dealer. But it sounds like Joe is saying that he doesn't trust the dealer to fix his backhoe since the dealer didn't do such a hot job installing it and the FEL in the first place. Maybe this is more of a Koyker dealer problem than a Koyker problem. Who should stand up and take care of it?

( Who should stand up and take care of it? ) I have no idea because I still don't have basic information. Was this a Koyker dealer (listed on their website)? What did the dealer offer to do? What information was the dealer given? WAY too many unanswered questions...I'm not even going to try to list them all, but there is way more info I would want about the situation before I would think it fair to imply that Koyker, as a manufacturer, did not do what they should have done. And that is the only point I have made.

Wayne- I went to the Yanmar dealer to get a FEL. He had a new Koyker backhoe on a skid in his yard. I bought both. When the backhoe showed the problem, I was 97 miles away and with no intentions of ever returning to that YM dealer. I didn't call the dealer, I called the factory. I assumed they would direct me to somewhere to get it fixed at a discounted or free rate. I was told to send it to the factory. Are there authorized Koyker dealers? Is there one in Arizona? There was no paperwork, no parts list, and no info from the factory. For $5000 retail, I expected more from Koyker. I will not buy that brand again because the factory person did not care about a problem on a brand new little backhoe. He didn't ask any questions beyond my remark that the boom dropped too fast. Wayne, I have a lot of respect for you and your principles. What is it that you don't like about my telling of my personal experience with a Koyker KB-60 hoe? I feel that you are trying you discredit me, instead of just saying that your experience with Koyker has been better than mine. My no-longer new hoe still has a leak in the boom circuit.

( There was no paperwork, no parts list, and no info from the factory. For $5000 retail, I expected more from Koyker. ) You did not buy the hoe from koyker. Their responsibility is to the dealer, and the dealer's responsibility is to you. The dealer is accountable if things were missing.

( What is it that you don't like about my telling of my personal experience with a Koyker KB-60 hoe? ) Tell your experience all you want. But give specifics, don't just imply that Koyker did not do right by you. I wouldn't expect them to do anything other than ask you what the dealer's response was. The selling dealer made the profit and it is their responsibility to handle any warranty issue. It's your choice if you don't want to go back there, but Koyker is not obliged to step in and do something else for you. I would be very surprised if they did anything when you refuse to even approach the selling dealer about it.

( I feel that you are trying you discredit me ) By asking for facts rather than your feelings?

( My no-longer new hoe still has a leak in the boom circuit.) And I expect it will until you go back to the dealer about the problem. My objection was, and remains, you implying, and later stating, your experience with Koyker was not good when initially you provided no details. The details you now provide help me understand the situation. Yes, what you want....for the Koyker factory to arrange repairs where ever you choose to go at a "discounted or free rate"...is not reasonable. It was your choice to buy from a dealer 97 miles from you. Sorry you are having a problem with it, but as I understand it you never made an attempt to allow or have the selling dealer repair it. That is the way to get it fixed.

So--you can say your experience with Koyker has not been good, and I now understand the circumstances on which you base that assessment. I disagree with your expectations of Koyker, but agree that you are free to say you are dissatisfied if you so choose. There is nothing more for me to add, so I will not respond on this thread again. Thank you for providing some details, and good luck if you decide to go ahead and return it to the dealer for repairs.
