Front Mount Blower chain

( A qick explanation for my previous advice: If the open end of master link is facing the direction of travel, any small bump(ie.. chain tensioner or other debri ) can dislodge the clip and cause it to disengage from the pin thus causing chain to separate. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif By reversing the clip, any bump only forces the clip onto the pin and shouldn't remove it. An old motorcycle trick from years ago!! )

My dealer came out on Friday, as promised. He checked to see that the sprockets were aligned correctly, and they were. Next he replaced the master link (B-2400 - he did install the master link clip in the correct direction, thanks again for the tip). Next he adjusted the chain tension. The bolt used to tighten the chain is virtually useless, he used a hammer to move the "adjustable" side of the sprocket assembly. He'd get the corrrect amount of chain slack (1/4" sag) but when he tightened the four bolts to lock it in place, the chain would tighten up severely. After fiddling with it for about a half hour, he got the proper slack with the four bolts secured.

I had about 6" to 8" of snow to try it after he left. Cleared my 750' gravel driveway, plus trails to my sheds and our parking area - all without a hitch. Chain held and no shear bolt breakage.

Conclusion? His guess was the chain was too tight. Everything else appeared to be ok. For those of you who own a similar blower, I would recommend checking the chain tension, I can see how it would be easy to have it too tight.
