Front mount blower

Erskin is not hydralic powered. Gear box off of the rear PTO. Been around for a long time.

Exactly! One only needs to look at the video link I posted on #4 ;)

Thanks for the info guys. Rockgod, that Erskine is exactly what I am looking for. Anyone know of any other manufactures of one like that? I looked at pronovost and normand but didnt see a front mount non fel, did I miss them.

For the price of the Erskine, I may also look into an inverted blower. This is going on a JD4520 by the way.

Thanks

Anyone have experience running a front blower on hydraulic power? That seems to be the only front-mount choice if your tractor doesn't have a mid-pto. Those hydraulic blowers look pretty expensive.
yes, i have one on my dk45. they are expensive, but work sweet. no pins to shear off. worth every penny i spent

That may be your answer. Where are you located?

Even where I live i kinda wish I'd done a a rear pull blower. Have a few at best, snow storms(per year) that a rear pull MIGHT have been problematic. That Deere you have is a nice unit.

I've got the erskine snow blower, bought it last march, but by the time i could get it installed to my kubota l4310 the snow was gone. I'm looking forward to this winter to give it a good test. It is a heavy, strongly built piece of equipment. I got it a lot cheaper from a kabota dealer some what near me then listed on some web sights. Assembly went quit well as long as you read and understant the manual beforehand. And best of all no more sore stiff neck???

Be looking forward to your experiences with that.

One of our fellow TBNers, grsthegreat, has a hydraulic powered front blower. It mounts on the loader Quick Attach. The hydraulic pump is mounted on the rear PTO.
Great setup...IIRC, he has about $16K tied up in it.
I don't recall the brand of the blower...his tractor is a Kioti with about 40 PTO HP.

hi Roy, long time no chat. Actually, i only had $10,500 invested in the blower/hydraulic unit, and an additional $2,600 in the front plow. And the tractor is a 45 HP Kioti. When i was looking for a heavy duty rear blower (In the $4,000- 5,000 range) and a rear pull blower (in the $5,000 - 6,000) range, the additional monies for the hydraulic unit didnt seem to much. Mine was also for medical reasons, as after 14 years or rear blowing of snow, i have wrecked my neck.

This is my 3rd season using the blower, and i LOVE it. I went out and cleared 6-7" of slushy wet snow last Saturday, and the unit never clogged up.

Im going to be teaching the wife to use it this winter. Shes been pestering me to learn.

Thanks, and for the earlier reply too. I don't plan on getting a hydraulic-run blower. I was sort of curious about the match-up between the required/recommended gpm's for the blower, and what the tractor's gpm's rating is. I guess that would be total rating minus the power steering pump rating usually.

If the tractor is low or below the recommended blower gpm, is it just a matter of going slower, or handling less snow depth? I assume it would be the same as an under-powered pto drive.

My neck is still okay with looking backward. The hood on my heavy coat doesn't swivel with my head though and I end looking backward at the inside of the hood with one eye, and at the driveway with the other. If I pull the hood back, that makes the wind change directions. The same scientific principle applies as smoke following you around a camp fire.
