My JD5105M MFWD Utility W/563 Loader has skid steer plates and I was wondering if anyone out there uses a front mounted oil driven tiller on their skid steer or tractor. I would like use the tiller around our 2.5 acre lake in pure sand to control segment grass (horsetail) which is very difficult to control with chemicals. The oil drive seems to have very few moving parts compared to a PTO driven tiller and the front mount on the FEL would give me more control than the 3pt mounted unit. I tried my disk with 18" blades but it does not do a very good job. 1206 169.JPG

Not about the front mount tiller but you can spray MCPA and Glyphosate both at 1-1.5% of your water. Will work very well. I use it to control fence lines and field borders and works excellent!

you might want to consider a "Flame Dragon" weeder which is fired with propane as an option.

I use Glyphosate (Rodeo) with a surfactant (what is MCPA?) but like cattails the horsetail has a waxy protective coating , extensive root system, and grows in water so that makes it harder to control.

I never thought of the weed burner.... I have mowed them only to have them grow back with a vengence..... I fill my own 20# tanks so that would not be a problem. Are there any differences in types of weed burners?
