The plan is to buy my tractor in the next few months. I still didn't figger out what way to go for the snowblower. I would like to see it up front(3/4mile driveway) with a system that allows me to detach easely, but that probably excludes the L4300 that I was looking at. Any ideas?

A snow blower is waaaay down on my list of needed attachments. It is only good for one purpose. Have you considered a blade on the 3ph? Always using the blade for other projects year round.

Gurt, how much snow do you get? Snowblowers move a lot of snow but they are slow to operate. Three point models are expensive while front mounts are tractor specific and VERY expensive. For lighter snowfalls a rear blade will be much faster and a lot cheaper. Gotta keep those banks pushed back though /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif From what I've heard the JD front mount comes off very quickly but again, is pricey. My JD purchasing guide shows the 59 incher is compatible with the 4300.

Oops, just realized you are in Kubota territory and looking at an L4300, not a JD4300. Sorry, sometimes I'm a bit color-blind /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif My guess is Kubota front mounts are almost as expensive as Deeres.

Hope some of this helps /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

HR Mutt & RobS,
Thanks for the reply guys. I'm maybe too focused on getting everything done as I expected from my future tractor. It"s of course an important decission and you want to think this through before you spend the money. We get over 5 months a 6-8 ft of snow. A blade should probably do the job if I widen the road some more. That would leave some money over for a future empliment.

I went around and around with this decision last fall when I bought my B2710. I ended up getting a rear mounted snowblower and a front mounted Curtis snow blade. In my case, this turned out to be ideal as I use the blade most of the time and only use the blower when the snow is really deep or when I need to move a big drift. I've got 600' or so of driveway to clear and with the blade, I can clear 4" of snow in about 30 minutes. If I have to use the blower, it takes 1.5 hours or so. I do use the blower enough so that I'm glad I got it, but I really prefer the blade for most of my snow removal.

Also, I was concerned about a rear mounted blower. Turns out using it is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Took a little getting used to but all in all, its not too bad. Hint: If you go this route, don't forget to add some lighting to the back of the tractor. If you're like me, I do most of my snow removal chores before sunrise.

Gurt,

I've used a front mount snow blower on my John Deere for the last 5 years. I think it's worth the extra $$$ to see where your going! Also blowing snow with the front mount is a lot faster than backing up. I'm in the process of buying a B7500 with loader, and the front mount snow blower. If you get as much snow as we have this year a plow would have never worked! Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

I'm with DRFoster on this one. With 6-8ft of snow and a 3/4 mile driveway a front blade and rear mower would be ideal. A snowblower alone would be slow and a blade alone would not be adequate for large storm and drift conditions, not to mention accumulated snow.

I have about the same snow conditions with 450' driveway. I tried a rear blade and FEL on a B2150 for a couple of years and wasn't satisfied. The combination FEL and rear blower turned out to be a much better solution. There is no substitute to a snowblower to move large amounts of snow.

I recently purchased an L3710 HST with FEL and 6' snowblower with hdr chute. The hydraulic chute is perfect for throwing snow where you want it particularly around buildings, windows, driveway lights, etc.

I would have gone the L4310 route as well but I wanted the mid-mower for my wife. However, after reading the Kubota procedure for installing the mid-mower, I'm not sure that was a good decision. They say live and learn. I mostly live!
