Nothing like a cab to keep the snow out of your face!
I vote for a front mount, 600' of gravel drive. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Should I install chains too?

I bought a set, but in 4WD I have never put them on...and never been stuck.

I have chains, but have never used them. The weight of the backhoe is enough for traction, R4 tires and 4wd helps! We have snow where when you cut the top it freezes, have had no use for them.

Sure...... why not.. the more that I leave to others, the less I have to leave to others that don't deserve it. I am going to leave the Kubota to Pineridge, so he will know what a good tractor drives like.. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I use a rear blower on my 300 foot driveway for 25 years now. First on a Ford and now an L3400. To me it is less of a pain then putting the front unit on and off. I have blacktop. The few times I helped my neighbor with his gravel driveway I broke a shearpin on the blower. I keep it about 4" up when I help him now. If I had gravel I'd put a set of guide wheels on my blower. I do like the FEL available with the rear blower for those wet spring storms that plugs the blower. I'm sure I'd like operating a front unit but I'm too lazy to put it on and off twice a year.

Does anyone have any experience with the Erskine rear pull snowblower? It looks interesting.

Interesting, but I see two problems. I could never get all the way to the end the driveway with a building there. I would end up with a little pile in the middle that I may not be able to get rid of unless I could drive past it, which I couldn't because of trees. If I started at the other end the prevailing wind would be a pain.

secondly, on my black top the wheels would pack down wet snow before the blower got there. It would then ride over the packed stuff. This would eventually turn to ice. I plan ahead now so that I don't drive over snow because of the packing effect.

It may be neat but it's not something I'd buy until I could test it a few times.
