We have a 1994 L4200GST w/ cab & 680 FEL - 1220 hrs. Last weekend in the bitter cold it appears the seals on the front of the transmission around the propeller shaft came out when we lifted the FEL. Big leak through the split pin weep drain in the clutch housing.
By reading past threads we learned of the spacer kit fix that Kubota came out with. Apparently this is a common problem with the older L2900-4200 series. Ordered the kit and plan on installing it this weekend. Read one thread where someone gave the basic instructions on how to install the spacer kit. The Kubota "instruction manual" is a parts list
These instructions included liberally spraying down the clutch housing and clutch with brake cleaning fluid to wash off the hydraulic fluid. Unfortunately we can't find anyone who posted the long-term results of this fix.
The dealer wants to split the tractor, replace the seals, and install a new clutch and throwout bearing to the tune of $1200.
Trying to find out what other people's experience has been, especially related to the clutch holding up after being sprayed down with brake cleaning fluid. Also any tips anyone may have with respect to installing this spacer kit.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
