Front wheel drive difficult to engage

Hi, I have a L3830 and I have difficulties in engaging the front wheel drive. At time they engage very easily and at times it is a nightmare. Any suggestions?. Thanks.

I think it is just the nature of the beast, my 2660 and L5030 both do that as did my 2200.

I usually just apply a little pressure and lightly press the HST until it engages.

It's the nature of the beast. Stop dead stop, push, step on or whatever and rock forward reverse pedal slightly with firm pressure on engager apparatus till it engages.

yup what the others said ...sometimes while engaging 4WD I have to slightly engage either forward or reverse. Level ground helps too.

Yup..Rock it back and forth..Sometimes slow speed forward will release it.

It's zen like. You have to "feel" it in. The diff lock is even more zen.

I have an L3830 - Sometimes it is difficult to go into gear or 4WD - In neutral I tap the forward pedal of the HST and that sometimes makes it easier to engage the 4WD or put ity into gear. It must somehow re-align the gears or something.

I have had it help if you also rock the steering wheel a little bit.

yeah, I conur with others- you kinda have to creep forward a little and feel it in, nothing is forced in.
