I recently bought a Yanmar 147 with a MF 48" finish mower. My property is pretty uneven, and using the finish mower scalps pretty bad. The mower has check chains which I use to keep the front of the mower level with the rear of the tractor, but I still get a lot of scalping. I'd like to know if anyone out there knows of a company that makes universal front wheels that can be adapted to a finish mower. That sure would improve the scalping I'm getting. THANKS!

Yeah, AgriSupply sells a kit - but it's pricey. You might want to consider an anti-scalping roller instead.

Thanks, Greg. I should have mentioned the mower does have a roller on the front, but the problem seems to be the skids on each side of the front.

Ok, then it appears you just have the wrong mower for the terrain. I'm pretty sure you can buy an appropriate mower/cutter for the price you will pay to modify this one to meet your needs. If you didn't look at the wheel kit I mentioned, we're talking $450+

Alternatively, you might modify the skid height. I don't recommend it though. You'll be trading off scalping for skid marks.
