Frozen throttle cable

   / Frozen throttle cable #13
What I did was to cut a piece (8-12 inch) of clear tubing and slide it on the end of the throttle cable at the engine end, then clamped it on with a hose clamp. I then filled it with Isopropyl alcohol (99%) then using compressed air I blew it into the cable. Rinse repeat. So far the problem has not come back.

I'll have to remember those ideas, thank you!

Isn't that corrosive on steel?

I filled it with rubbing alcohol several days ago, and tomorrow I am going to pump it full of fine machine oil so at least it should bond to the cable and not allow the ice to grab it.....

I think with the rust and corrosion inhibators they put in to protect your engine and radiator it wouldn't be an issue. But it was just a thought and method that I was told by an old timer that works pretty well.
