Tractor Diesel Fuel Additive

If one uses Howes for example like I do, is it ok to also add the biocide on a normal fill with fuel?
I've never used the biocide and don't want to deal with the problems it could cause.
Just concerned about adding too many things to the fuel and causing problems too.

I've used Howe's and Killem (biocide) for years. No problems.

To kill bacteria, just get a bunch of copper pennys, and throw them in the tank. If you want to spend money buy copper washers, or just a foot long peice copper tubing. Copper kills almost all bacteria.

how do you store your diesel, in tank or 5gal containers? in general, usually storage tanks pose more problems re:algae/bacterial growth than individual containers.

I deal with many chemicals with my job, including Jet fuels.

This crap is transdermally toxic - it will attack your liver if you get a splash on your skin. Wear gloves and don't be stupid...

All diesel fuel contains B2/2% biodiesel. It's not required to be marked as such unless the biodiesel content is above 5%. Biodiesel is the lowest cost, most effective lubricity additive.
If any diesel fuel retailer says their fuel contains no biodiesel, ask what other additive they add to replace the lost lubricity during the refining process to remove sulfur.

You get a lot of blank stares when you start asking about bio percentages. Or, percentage numbers pulled out of the air. I've found many don't mark their pumps when the bio percentages are above 5%, as supposedly they are required to either. I always ask and have been told up to 10% and not found labels anywhere to advise of that percentage. It's a crap shoot when you buy diesel as to the percentage of bio in it.

I store my diesel in 5gal cans. I always keep the tractor full of fuel also, and have had no problems so far.

similar to my situation, think you're in good shape as is esp since you circulate storage fuel. i've noticed bio growth problems w/others mainly in storage tanks. in addition, your location also helps. now gelling & moisture....another story, worthy of an additive to address those concerns. regards,
