I have a Branson 4020. If I park on a slight slope to the right fuel will leak out the cap considerably. The tank is about 3/4 full. The cap was replaced but still leaks. Has anyone else had this problem or is this normal? Thanks in advance. Pics attached.

If you can see the fuelcoming out from the cap then this won't be any help.
Check the filler neck where it attaches to the tank. I had to have my tank replaced because it developed a crack. It wasn't a defect it just took some abuse.

I have the exact same problem on my 3647 Century.
If I tilt the tractor to the side with fuel cap, it leaks out.
I've tightened it as much as possible without stripping it.
Any ideas???

thanks,

anthony

Mudcat... as my pic shows the fuel can be seen running out from the cap. There are no cracks in the filer neck that I can see. I thought a new cap would have solved the problem but it didn't. If this normal then it's a poor design and should be corrected by Branson. Maybe an elbow to extend it up a few inches? My second pic shows the angle of tractor as the fuel is leaking out. Lots of dead grass spots in my yard. Have a good day all.

Sorry Ron.I didn't pick up that steady stream of fuel pouring from the cap the first time I looked at it. I haven't had that problem. The elbow idea is nice, mabe a thicker gasket in the cap. I hope you have brought this to your dealers attention.

I have the same problem. I filled it up one time and then was doing backhoe work on a slight down hill grade. Didn't notice at first, then saw that something was leaking, and sure enough, had a steady drip from the filler cap. I tightened
the cap considerably snd didn't make any difference. It is a bad design, if fact
I really don't like the fuel at all. The duel tanks or gauge never read right amount of fuel, and perhaps a longer neck might also help in adding fuel. One has to add fuel pretty slow to prevent spillage at the angle they have it at with the short neck.
Hey, I love the tractor and would trade it for anything, I think they could have done a little better with the fuel system and filler cap. It doesn't take a real steep incline for it to leak either if you have a real full tank. I usually don't fill mine to the top anymore.

It may be a vented cap, even though the tanks are vented already. The longer neck idea is a good one. Practically speaking, leave it down just a little from the top when working or parking on slopes and the issue doesn't surface. I noticed that if the screen in the neck isn't seated down in the neck properly, it causes a leak. The screen should be down in the neck, you don't want the lip of the screen to ride on the lip of the neck or both the screen and the cap are trying to occupy the same sealing surface and it doesn't work.

Hey Daves Tractor...thanks. I'll have to look at mine again and maybe I can get that screen down more. Its night time...I'll check tomorrow morning!

I checked the screen and on mine it's not possible to ride on the lip of the neck. It rests on a ledge just below the lip. I tried to position it on the lip to see if it could and then put on the cap but it naturally drops to where it belongs.
So don't think that's it. Thanks

Ron

I inspected mine again. Everything apears just fine, but it seems to tighten a bit before it seats on the inner gasket on the cap. I remember when it was leaking before I tried to tighten the cap more and it was pretty tight and didn't want to over tighten, but it still leaked the same. I don't think I'm getting a good seal on the gasket.
