I didn't like my previous setup. I redid it, this one will hold up better. The angled hose is Gates 24713 Fuel Fill Hose. No leaks so far in a quick test but haven't put it in actual use yet. If it doesn't look like it is going to hold up I have one more idea.
anthony,
I left the fill tube as it was, so no damage there. I had an auto parts store order the angled hose from Gates. The other tube I picked up at a farm supply store. A description of it said for petroleum use so I'm hoping it holds up. It is threaded on one end but not the exact threads needed. I had a spare cap that does tighten down on it. If it damages the threads...it's only an extra anyway. If this tube doesn't hold up I was thinking about getting a piece of stainless pipe and have it threaded. Of course it would be even better if Branson could come up with a mod for it from the factory since they admitted that it leaks.
Fuel still leaks out from around the cap but not quite as bad. The cap doesn't tighten tight enough since the threads are wrong. I need to get a fill tube from a Branson tank. That would work I think. Talked to Branson to see if they had a junk tank they could cut the fill tube off of and send it to me. They said no at first but will check. Didn't hear anything back yet.
No More Fuel Leaks!!! Setup looks the same as last pictured but now with the right fill tube. Branson sent me the fill tube. Gave it a work out this weekend and didn't spill a drop.
Maybe this is a little late. I took a fine file and squared off the top of the filler so it was smooth. I then used a marker around the surface and screwed on the top to make sure it was making contact. No leaks.
Nice job. The only question I would have is will the fuel now come out of the vent that is located below your fill tube if you fill up your tank? A couple of times I filled my tank before putting it away, then parked it on a slope towards the rear and fuel came out of what appeared to be my breather tube, so now I fill it and park on a level surface.
fib2c,
I haven't noticed any fuel leaking out the vent. My tank was 3/4 full and no leaks to be found at fairly steep angles. I will have to fill it full and test all angels to see if vent leaks. So far the correct tank fill tube is working great.(took awhile but thanks Branson) I've lost a lot of fuel the past couple years and many dead grass spots as my land is sloped pretty good in places where I use the tractor but finally with this setup now problem seems to be solved. It may not be factory or look the best but it works for me.
