Fuel Filter removal

Hey guys
I tried to change my fuel filter yesterday (4041)and the fuel kept running out of the drain,I think will need to pinch the inlet hose ,but I tried to remove the Sensor wire but it would not come off how hard or easy should it come off ? does it just pull down or is there something Im missing.

Well, I might not be able to help you out but, here goes: You can see that I have a R3039. I have changed the fuel filter. Yes, you'll need to clamp off at least one and maybe two fuel lines --- the supply from the tank which I accessed by removing a small blank in my dash. The second will be the outlet from the filter to the pump. Once those are clamped off, the fuel will stop running out.

Say some more about this "Sensor wire". I didn't have to deal with any such wire to remove my fuel filter.

Thank you for the reply I did change it out today,the Sencor wire has a plug I didn't see it the other day (LOL) it was not to bad to change out good thing I did it was bad lots of rust ! as this was a preowned I can see that the owner's fuel tank was very rusty.
