fuel from grass?

anyone, heard of or tried making fuel-a-hol from grass clippings? why wouldn't it work? how would it be done? why do ethenol plants only use corn?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cows are fueled by grass! Gas-o-hol is made from corn (and some cases - certian strains of milo) due to high carbohydrate content.

Yes, cows are fueled by grass (sheep, goats, etc...) and a great deal of burnable fuel (methane) is wasted out the cows tailpipes...

Any thoughts on capturing this escaping energy ? Small solar powered compressor and a storage tank on the cow ?

well yes, political hot air would be more powerful than nuclear!! But very expensive! Costs at least 20% of my yearly income to fuel that hot air. the byproducts of that hot air cost even more... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I was looking for a way to make cheap fuel for my car from grass clippins..

once again, any ideas? if I put clippings into an enclosed chamber of some sort and compress the gas? is that doable?

Why don't you just fill the back seat with your clippings and in a few days you will save a bunch on fuel.........you will be walking as you won't be able to get in the car anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
