If it is the banjo fitting, it is normal.

You may have been a bit overfilled with lube oil in the pump. As it warms up it expands and leaks out the overflow port(circled in blue on the above pic). It should stop eventually.

One thought here... Any chance that pump can 'make' oil? I.e. it is overfull from diesel entrainment?

That is possible, but then I guess the oil leaking wouldn't stop eventually:).

It may be important for him to find this out. , rather than wait to see if it will stop leaking... i know from inline ford pumps.. like Sims.. etc.. once you get diesel thinned oil in your injector pump... it's about shot..

FrankM - Here's my 2 cents worth. That banjo fitting is the high level for the injector pump. The injector pump has it's own oil in it. There has been some discussion on this forum as to what kind of oil to use in it. Right or wrong - I use tractor motor oil in it. I change it every hundred hours. But the punch line is - that is the full mark, and oil should not be leaking out of that fitting. That banjo fitting has two copper washers - one on each side - that the mickey mouse little rubber cap is good and tight. I use one wrap of mechanics wire to secure it. (you know, the old farmer's bailing wire(littler smaller size). Be sure to keep the oil up to the Full level. Keep us informed - Yugo

in the Book it said it is a breather , If so why in the world would you plug it off ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The breather is in the top. The overflow nipple on mine has the same cap. It fits loosly and just barely stays on. I've changed my injector pump oil twice and I'll tell you it drips for weeks and then levels off. Operating on inclines may cause further dripping. This is where I believe the cap serves its purpose.
Obviously, if you get a constant drip it may be "making oil" but this is rare.
