Yes it is a fuel crisis created by war. Same thing happened in WW2, now we are in WW3. But that has nothing to do with coal mining. I’m done with this discussion: you continue to beat a dead horse with the same old comments. I’m going to tell a personal story: my grandfather was a coal miner in Wheeling, WV and southern Ohio areas. He told my father and I 50-years ago there was no future in coal and said get an education or learn a trade. We moved west in 1970 and made a better life for ourselves, didn’t stay in Appalachia and do drugs. Grandpa died from mining related lung disease. Ten years ago, the Peabody coal mines in the San Juan basin in my state closed. The miners there either moved or found new jobs. Currently the mines in Wyoming are closing. I have lots of in-laws in that country. They have told me that the communities are losing population because people are moving on to new jobs elsewhere. But they are also seeing people move in to enjoy the rural lifestyle because they are teleworking. Yes, there are drug problems in every state, but most people moved on with their lives. This is America: we find opportunities and industries change over time. Nobody has to do the same job that their grandfather did.

Now I’m done with this discussion topic.
If you think the fuel issue is only 8 days old you haven't been watching prices.

The fuel cost are related to the war in only the following way:

If I gardened, had a few chickens, and a couple of feeder cows I would be more or less self sufficient. Now, if I decided to quit doing that a few months before covid hit, and struggled to get the food I wanted, could you spin it that the food shortage was related to covid? I suppose you could, but you would be wrong.

The belief that energy costs are purely, or even largely market driven is naive, stating that as a fact is dangerous.

Everyone has the right to believe what ever makes them feel better. For the good of people that might believe them, the rest of us have a right to correct them.

Best,

ed

Crude futures up about 10% right now.....not going down anytime soon.
I top off the tanks every day to avoid the next days increases - easily $.20 a day.

Wonder how long it’ll take for one of our esteemed leaders to jump up to a podium and start crying “price gouging”.

Just when the Covid crisis ends, another takes its place.

I just returned with three 5 gal cans diesel and topped off truck. $127.
We need our pipeline and stop sending Russia oil.

What pipeline? I don’t think we send Russia oil, but we do export oil. Until about 5 years ago, exporting US oil was illegal. It should still be.

I had to go to town today and saw that one of the stations had gas for 3.699. I had filled up yesterday but still stopped and pumped 3 gallons into the truck... hey, 45 cents is 45 cents. The local grocery store owner was there and said that he didn't know if the price was a mistake but he was filling every can that he had, including a big fuel caddy; his plow trucks hold 100 gallons.

Exporting is a way to give others a chance to buy American oil rather than Putins oil. We all know we can increase production dramatically and so could other nations to the point that Russias oil sales decrease.
Also, if permits on NG ship loading facilities would be granted, we could export more NG and give Europe a chance to by American NG rather than Russian NG.
Thatll help weaken Putin.
Allowing Nordstream 2 was a huge mistake and funded Putin’s war.
