What kind of fuel winterizer do you use if any? I have never used any in my tractors but am thinking about it. I don't use my tractor in the winterso it just sits in the garage. Do I need to to add winterizer to the fuel? Your thoughts.

Depending on where you live algae growth and condensation are probably your two biggest concerns. If you aren't going to empty the tank you might want to fill it up and add something recommended by your local dealership. They should know what kind of issues are common in your area.

Because I don't use a lot of diesel, I run Power Service Diesel Treatment year round. It supposedly gives added power in addition to the anti-jellying factor. At any rate, I never have to worry about when and if they add it at the local pumps for winter.

Thanks for the info, I will talk to my dealer about this.

I've used Power Service in the white bottle for several years...all year long. For me, it's for the added upper cylinder lubricity. The anti-jell aspect is just an added benefit.

When we first moved to Vermont during the winter of 2012/2013, my tractor sat outside for the duration (no garage at the rental house we lived in). The tractor, a Deere 4400, had no problem starting when we had to clear snow. Now, this tractor, as well as my current one (4520) had a block heater and that helps a lot.

Roy, I saw the Power Service at Auto Zone yesterday. How much do you use per gallon of fuel?

I've been using PS for many years. I buy the 80 oz. bottles and dump the whole thing (as indicated on the bottle) into a 250 gallon tank. (actually 275 gallon but I don't fill it).
That works out to a little over 3 oz. per gallon. A few here use the glug method and put one or two glugs per gallon. Being down south your temps probably don't stay as cold like ours do so you may be able to use less per gallon.
I buy fuel in bulk but use that tank for my tractor, salamander heater, and 80K BTU garage furnace.
