Fueling a 2520

Try the NoSpill cans, you can lift them up and rest them on the filler neck. The have an automatic shutoff when full. The vent air is sucked in from the bottom of the nozzle so when the fuel hits that level the you can hear it and the flow slows dramatically.

I have an older styled 3 gallon plastic can. That's all I care to lift, thank you.
It also doesn't have the modern fittings.

Lifting 5 gallon cans that high? I'd likely make a mess.

One trick to keep from overfilling: when I fill my 2320, I leave the key in the first position, so I can watch the fuel gauge as it gets to full. On mine, it's full when the needle's just past the top of the gauge.

I agree the safety valve keeps fuel from getting everywhere, but 5 gallons of diesel gets pretty heavy after a while!

That's what I do. I use a 6 gallon yellow plastic Rubbermaid container and normally I only have about 4 gallons of fuel in it. With only 4 gallons in the container it's lighter and it does not start coming out the instant you are trying to get the spout in the filler neck on the tractor. I also rest the container on the steering wheel while filling the tractor, have to caution you here as it is best not to have the tractor running as the steering wheel will easily move all over the place because of the power steering and you will have fuel all over the place also (just guessing here).

I use the PITA new-style 5 gallon yellow plastic diesel cans from Wally world. I also use a funnel with one of those floats in it that pops up when the fuel level gets to the top. Doesn't work that great. I have better luck guessing how much it will take.

When my fuel gauge gets to "empty", I can still run it for a couple of hours. So, I know if it's on empty, I can get easily about 4 gallons in it (7 gallon tank).

One thing I do to make it easier is set a three-step ladder right next to the right side of the tractor. Then, I put my left foot on the operator platform and right foot on the top ladder step. This makes it easier to hold the jug in pouring position.

Finally, I place a towel on top of the hood around the filler neck area to catch any drips, etc.

I use a yellow 6 gallon container and bought a gravity pump and handle nozzle similar in looks to what you see at gas station.They are cheap, but works great. A little slow but no spill. Just set it on a small platform higher than your fuel tank and voilà.:thumbsup:

I built a 50 gallon fuel tank out of 20'' stainless steel pipe, mounted a Fill-Rite rotary hand pump with gas station style auto nozzle, no more lifting cans or spilling fuel.

I use a 14 gallon Flo n' Go fuel caddy. I know, its not yellow. For me it works great as I store it high on a shelving unit next to where I park my tractor. As it is elevated, flow is gravity fed. I get to feel like a big tractor pulling up to a yard fuel tank.

Note, the 'pump' of this unit is useless. It needs to be elevated to work well.
