Fueling a 2520

I put a soft rag on the hood when the 5 gallon container is full, lift it up onto the rag. Then I insert a kerosene siphon bought at TSC, pump it a few strokes to get it flowing into the tank, lift siphon when near full to where it is out of the can contents to let it run empty.

Once down about 1/2 way, I just pour it directly into the tank from the container.

I've a little booklet that I record the gallons (5 normally) and hours when I finish each container.

I use on road B5, as there's very little savings for off road here in Va, and I can put a gallon every once in a while into the TDI if it's too low to get to the fuel station.

I am getting my new 2520 in a week or two and I am curious on what type of fuel can guys are using.
It sure looks like it is going to be a PITA to pour fuel into the tank out of a can.
1*Any suggestions?
Something like this -
or this .

I'll just go 2 blocks away to the self-serve off road pump. ;)
W O W !
So you only have to drive your tractor 2 blocks to get off road fuel in it .
U lucky rascal .

Where can you buy off road fuel?
Do gas stations have a separate pump?
Fuel suppliers
Very few do .

I built a 50 gallon fuel tank out of 20'' stainless steel pipe, mounted a Fill-Rite rotary hand pump with gas station style auto nozzle, no more lifting cans or spilling fuel.
Beats the heck out of cans don't it .

I use a 14 gallon Flo n' Go fuel caddy. I know, its not yellow. ;) For me it works great as I store it high on a shelving unit next to where I park my tractor. As it is elevated, flow is gravity fed. I get to feel like a big tractor pulling up to a yard fuel tank. :)
Note, the 'pump' of this unit is useless. It needs to be elevated to work well.

I considered a caddy but these were about the same money and are far superior to a caddy.
Starting tomorrow, I will be using a 55 gal drum with a hand pump
Any thing beats those dang old cans.

IF you overflow the fuel, there is a catch basin molded around the top of the tank, and that has a hose hooked to it that drains the spilled fuel down under the bottom of the tractor. Nice feature, but I'm more worried about the fuel that gets on the green paint!

It depends on how badly you over fill it. I've overflowed the overflow, and gotten it all over everything.

After 23 years I have seen no ill effect on ours. Heck my grandfather used to wash his car every week with kerosene and water. Any spillage does a nice job of cleaning up the hood, probably the only clean spot on my tractor.

I just drive the tractor up the road to a local store that caters mainly to all the logging outfits in the area (there is a chip mill 2 miles up the road from there). He sells both on road diesel for the trucks & off road diesel for their logging equipment. Convenient as heck!! :) Got some yesterday in fact $3.04/gallon.
