jimmy, the view tax we have here is an increase in your property tax if the assessor feels you have a 'view'. Interesting in a state as mountainous as NH....... like having a 'level ground' tax in Kansas???

SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!! Dont give them any ideas Ductape :D . Bob

Good Mornin Jimmy,
Im not sure if these photos count ! :D The wood is in the basement allready, or a good portion of it ! ;) Three rows, 16 ft long by 6.5 ft high ! :) It should be a good start anyway ! :)

I actually have next years wood put up also, that would be still outside ! ;)

Hey scott_vt,

I just built a wood storage room in our basement. I think it's going to work great but my wife is a little concerned about insects.

Do you have any issues with bugs?

Wow, thanks for the info about the view tax. That is a very offensive concept.

Regarding wood in the basement, we have a rack in the back hall that holds 1 face cord. It's awesome to fill it once a week or so and the wood is nice and dry and handy if the weather is awful out. I highly recommend it. As for bugs, the only real issue we have is that overwintering mosquitoes come in with the wood. As long as your wood is not damp or rotten, it shouldn't be too buggy.

In our attached garage we have two racks, each holds a face cord. We use 'sticky boards' (also called glue boards) to catch the bugs. Does an excellent job.

View tax...

We got it here. If you can see the water, guarantee you assessment will go up 25 to 300% in 2-5 years. I can see the water once the leaves drop from my neighbour's trees.

And the funny thing is once the tide goes out there is no 'water' to view!!! I wonder if I can get 50% back since it is a mud hole 12 hours of the day!

Nice to see everyones stock pile of wood . I can finally start worrying in getting some more cut & ready , as I found the parts I need for my fireplace . Granted its a little late to have it seasoned for this winter, But I have a lot of dead trees that need to be cut down so I,m hoping it will get Us by .

Just thought I,d share the link in case others dont know where to find the stuff , as I had a problem with . Chimney Supplies and Liners, Fireplace Accessories, Woodstove Accessories - Hart's Hearth . Hopefully I,ll have the pipes & cap by next week . :D . Bob

Good Afternoon bhostasa,
There will allways be some insects in the wood, but I have found that they pretty much stay with the wood. If when Im bringing in the wood, if I see anything thats really infested with ants etc it stays outside until I can just put it right in the stove ! :)

I have been doing this for many years, with out many problems !:)

Looks like you all have been busy and got the wood stocked up for the winter. I have wood shed to thats 12x22 and it will hold about 8-1/2 cords and she's full to the rafters. It took me about 3 months to get her full but its done now . This wood is for my Dad to burn so I do it for him because he can't do to much bending over anymore with his back. He helps me split some of it though. I will be cutting more come winter time though to stay ahead of the game. Later.... Bullsram
