looks like a funnel I made in High School shop class.
Thanks for bringing that memory back!

Good job LD1, I would have fun welding them up, but I don't have the equipment or the patience to make the pieces.. Again looks good.

The Tinman would be proud...

He sure would. That's a great looking funnel. I might have to have a go at one one of these days.

Guess I need to find out about TIG... I have DC stick so I'll look around for Tig threads for a while.

I could help a little if you have questions. I have been down the road so to speak. Did a lot of research, had a lot of questions..

I was going to start another thread asking about TIG but I guess we can do it here... LD1, do you want to share your set up that you used to make the funnel? (...no rush :p) Do you use the DC machine for power and some other wire feed??? (I have not ever looked into it).

Teg, the wire feed on all TIG processes is you left hand. If you have ever done OA welding, it is much the same. Form a puddle, move the "heat" in the direction of the joint, an dip into the leading edge of the puddle. There is also a "laywire" technique to just lay the wire over the joint and advance the puddle into the wire. Do NOT, let the tungsten dip into the puddle or the fill wire.

Yep, left hand is the wirefeed. Machine is just a little miller maxstar DC tig welder. I am no pro. I dont Tig everyday like some, but I can stick some peices together:laughing:

nice job and a handi implemet too, anothe project goes on my want list
if you use some masking tape or similar and create an air space on the inside of the object your welding, you can run another line into it to purge the air out, by starting at the free end, but on the outside, the tape will burn, but a nice job both sides
cheers stuart
