Wouldn't the water quickly boil away and cause the solution to become more salty and more conductive?

Probably wise to stick your hand in now and then to make sure it's not getting too warm. I mean, if you're going to do something like that anyway. Just make sure you are well grounded. Moccasins soaked overnight in the same brine solution should work well. Safety first.

I have seen that too in the Phillipines on a video. They kinda look away, but they still get flashed. Not smart. I saw one Phillipino just using house current. I suppose the resistance of the distribution wiring acted as a current limiter of sorts, and he tapped in ahead of the two fuses the house had. All bad ideas. His welds look worse than my lousy gorrilla welds too. Just total bird poop.

your description of the welds kinda looks like some welds (sort of ) that I saw on a bench vise in this farmer's shed the other day. Was a setting where i wouldn't expect to find a welding machine very often. Maybe that's what they were using. I never heard if they work very well.

To be clear, I would be using a welding mask if/when I get around to trying this out just to see if it works.

I am confident it will work, Just remember the stinger is hot with 120 volts, not transformer isolated, One mistake or a sweaty welding glove and you could be really hurting, or even killed. I suspect some chlorine gas will come from the salt water mixture also. I wouldn't breathe deep over the bucket. Salt being NaCl. So I suspect the electrolysis will liberate some chlorine atoms.

You would be right, some chlorine does get liberated.

Will it with AC? All electrolysis that I've done has been with DC.

It will work, it's just that which gas is being generated at which electrode will cycle along with the current...
