This seems so silly, but I simply cannot get the fuse cover door to close and latch shut on my new 4300. The dealer said if all else fails to come in and try a few on their lot, see if I can spot what's different with mine. Of course I'll do that the next time they are open.

I popped it open just out of curiosity, which turned out to be an okay thing because a few of the fuses needed to be seated better. But it simply will not latch shut now.

I know, it's a very minor problem.. but still.. it would be nicer if the door wasn't flapping around while I work.

When I try to close it, there is clearly a pressure point in the middle, because neither side sits flush. It seems obvious that the latch pin goes through the hole, and then moves downward to lock it shut. But it simply never gets shut far enough for this mechanism to work.

Any suggestions welcome!

TIA, and Happy Holidays to all,
Bob

John, the first time my brother asked me if I had any "hundred mile an hour tape", I didn't know what he was talking about. He'd been flying fabric skinned airplanes in Alaska and I found that was what they called duct tape.

Is the lever "A" in the proper position...? {lower to close}

Yep. When you close your door, does it close completely? Mine acts like it isn't lining up right. It's hits a high spot in the middle, which I presume is the catch mechanism, and both sides stick out quite a ways. No matter how much force is applied to it, it just won't go in. I make sure the pin goes into the hole, then push hard and move the lever down to lock it. No dice. Duct tape for now!

Thanks, John.

Bob

p.s. It occured to me that maybe I should replace the lock with a real lock.. so I can take out the starter fuse and then lock the panel shut with a key. Minimal security, I know, but anything that slows them down a bit.. And at least my locking setup should stay closed. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bob,
take out the starter fuse

You could replace the starter fuse with one which was blown, not to obvious, but you would have to remove the duct tape every time you wanted to use the tractor/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bob,

I'll bet it's something, you'll end up kicking yourself over... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

By chance, do you have the fuse door upside down or reversed, wrong position...? Think, something logical, something obvious, and something simple... {I can't see it...you can...!}

How you tried a bigger hammer......? JUST KIDDING Bob! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

As long as none of that pretty green paint comes off with the duct tape, I could live with that. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
