Yanmar FX32D
Hi,

I'm from W.Australia. Got sold a Yanmar FX32D with front loader a few months ago.
Long story short - the tractor was delivered on my farm with no coolant. I didn't know this until it overheated and failed to restart.
Took it back to dealer, says that block is cracked/piston melted and i'm up for another engine from Asia (parts are apparently hard to get for these).

Won't claim warranty because I should have checked fluids before operating...

Anyway, can any other motor from a different manufacturer fit these tractors? John Deer etc ?

Repairing the motor in W.Australia would be way to expensive, as labour costs here are very high. What solutions do I have?

Engine model is: 4TNA78-UP

cheers

I doubt you'll find a direct bolt up replacement from another brand.. Deere ?? Maybe But I doubt it .....
What idiot would deliver a tractor without any coolant in the motor ?? Did he also leave out the engine ,and tranny fluids ?

All other fluids OK as far as I know. Just no coolant.
It was found that there was a leak in a radiator hose upon further inspection.

So what motor could I source that would fit this tractor chassis?

This guy
Sheaffer's Town & Country Tractor
is a specialist in locating obscure parts for Japanese tractors, and has the contacts worldwide to provide them.

He isn't cheap but if you have no alternative it might be worth paying what he charges to locate what you need.

I am thinking unless you paid TOP dollar for this tractor it may be worth just calling it a wash? Your going to have to get an engine for that tractor. But you are fixing it there in W. Australia unless your towing it somewhere else? They cant rebuild what you have its junk, "cracked block melted piston" you cant fix a busted block (usually).

Since there was a hole in the radiator hose i would think thats their fault if you took it from some sort of company?

A hole in the hose you say, then that's a defect to claim under warranty!

Not sure how the warranty and your laws of the land work, but here in the US, I could take that dealer to a claims court and would win plus legals fees.

Over here, the FX32D model is a very rare machine.

Not that it matters, but how long did you drive this used tractor that you "got sold" without checking the fluids?

If parts are that hard to find I would part it out.

good idea, but i think the parts are hard to find cause there rare like here. That does not mean there would be a huge demand for them though. Since there are so few units of them you probably would be sitting on critical parts till they were needed. But i am sure the parts total is worth more than the sum total of that running traactor. I know the ring gear in the rear end alone is hard to find and must come from japan and it alone will bring big money.

This matter is sent to a lawyer to deal with - im trying to use our consumer protection laws for this matter.

Since the engine might be near impossible to find, would a rebuild be my best bet? Does anyone know if things like pistons/rings etc are standard on the model range - ie; doesnt have to be specifically "FX32D" suited.
