To minimize bounce or a spongy feeling floor, the floor trusses would need to be around 24" to 28" deep. This is great for insulation, but challenging to the pocket book.

- But remember this: Deeper is (usually) Cheaper

Once you figure out what the appx live load is going to be, why not go to a truss mfg, and let them use their software to give you the best design,
Just me, but when I've got a load over my head, I like to know that I aint going to be wearing it. Engineering is a good thing.

as a person who provided engineering services for the truss industry for over 5 years.....

a 32' CLEAR SPAN gambrel is going to be nearly impossible. the reason is your limited to 12' overall height for shipping and there is no effective way to piggyback gambrel trusses. (although you can consider shipping parts and feild pressing the last few joints, but only the biggest truss contractors have feild presses and again, they are expensive)

there might be some possibilities for muliti piece trusses, (take a standard triangle truss and stick to ends at the peek) but then you have to clear span the floor/ceiling which again is NOT easy for 32'. its doable but things get large and expensive quick.

I understand about the bottom cord to keep the sides from pushing out. The PE/builder will tell me how to make this happen. I know with todays technology we can bring in the engineered pieces and put it together on site. Heck they've been doing THAT for the last 100 years.
I've been in old barn that had some pretty large spans, so I pretty sure we can do this today.

If you have a PE stamping the drawings, he will not put his license on the line by providing something unsafe. He can be personally sued if the building 'has problems'.

The PE should be specifying his intent. Post it, and we can review.
