Do any of you know if IR cameras are limited to B&W pics?

IR cameras are limited to B&W pics.

I have sometimes seen them enhanced with false color, but it is just that -- false.

IR works at a wavelength of light your eye can not see, to have real color you must have a visible wavelength & either daylight or a flash.

Seems that for the money, I'll stick with the cheaper versions that use a flash and take color pictures. I had 75 pictures on my cam last night of the same hog. He doesn't seem to care about the camera, or the flash.

The battery warning light is on, so I'm going to put new batteries in and relocate it. It takes six C cell batteries and they lasted for over 500 pictures!!!

Steph and I went for a hike this morning to find a good place to put it. My good feeder is 200 yards out my back door and it's getting allot of activity lately. We can sometimes see hogs there with the spotlight at night, but haven't seen them lately, so that's probably where I'll put it. There just isn't a good tree close by to mount it.

Here's a few more pics of that same boar from last night.

Eddie,
We mounted our game camera to a 4' length of PVC pipe that will then slide over a t-pole. We pounded in a t-pole at each of our feeders and when we want to monitor that feeder, we slide the PVC pipe with the camera onto the t-pole. It saves a bunch of hassle in trying to tie the camera to a tree each time we move it.

Our camera will go for weeks before anyone visits our deer camp and the camera battery doesn't last long enough (we set the camera so it only takes a photo every 30 minutes). In order to take photo's over a course of a few days/weeks, on the top of the PVC pipe we mounted a 6-volt solar panel battery charger to keep the camera battery charged (our camera uses a 6-volt battery, same as our feeders)

Eddie - when do we get a picture of that hog hanging from your FEL.

I started to post some pics of hogs here, but since they weren't taken with a game cam, I decided against it. They are in the photo section if anyone care's to take a look. Sorry, Eddie, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

We've been trying ever since we let him go on opening day of deer season. We saw him three times, but didn't shoot because we were seeing deer, but now we haven't seen him since. We have a good idea of where he's hanging out, but so far, he's proven to be smarter than I am.

This morning, it was right around freezing out with frost on the ground. Steph and the kids had just walked out the door for school and work, when she came running back in to tell me that there was a HUGE hog at the feeder. I grabbed my rifle and went out the back door. We both thought it was the boar we'd been taking pictures of here.

Just as I got into position, he spun around and took off. It was either the wind, or he saw me at 140 yards. Either way, it was a different hog. He was a very, very large boar!! Maybe bigger than the one Steph shot last year, if not, just as good!!

There were 120 pictures on the game cam last night from 7:34pm until 10:48 pm. Over 3 hours!!!!!!

Most of the pics are just like what I've already posted, but the second, third and fourth ones here are of 3 girly pigs. We think this boar has a few girlfriends now!!!! :D

[QUOTE I had the camera about 5ft off the ground pointing down at an angle. I have since relocated to appx. 2ft off the ground.[/QUOTE]

I've reset my gamecame to a new location and adjusting the hight . I think I have been pointing it to high based on the tracks I'm seeing . In the setting its at I would like to catch a deer or other animal jumping over one of our small streams. I have the cam strapped to the bottem of a tree right at ground level pointing up . I've had it out for five days and will probable leave it set one more day.

My frind had a guy walk up to his cam and shoot it ,it was locked to the tree and apperenly when he couldn't steal it he shot it . The pictures still survived on the media card and he got good pictures of the guy and knew who he was . He went and talked to the guy and the guy relpaced the cam.
