Just as a point of reference, here's a CL ad for one in northeast Texas with manual up/down lever operated ripper bar for more money. This one will probably sell for close to the asking price and is not in nearly as good condition as the one Illini22 got. Shows what a good deal he got.

Bio, thanks. Unfortunately I think it's to much for my dk40. But I couldn't pass it up.

I carry an 84" with my Ford 3910, 5K lb tractor.

It looks like there is a lever that locks the ripper in place when there down, does that mean you shouldn't have the half or 3/4 of the way down? I understand the cylinder would be doing the work

Do not operate the scarifier partially down. It is designed to "latch" down so the load is carried by the latch hook, rather than your hydraulics. Depending on how it's designed you risk bending the ram in your cylinder or blowing the seals/hoses.

That BB is one heck of a find! The 4x4 model has taller side and rear panels, so it's even heavier than the 4x2 model. One thing is for sure...you won't be wanting for a heavier built unit!

I think you'll love that Gannon. When my tractor was in the shop, I ran an 84" on a rental Kubota somewhere around 40-45hp. Even without the rear tires loaded, it worked just fine.

I've got an old KK brand 5' BB that I used on my first Kubota, 30hp. I used it once this Spring on the Ford which is 6.5' wide. Sucked. Much better to have a BB that's slightly too big than one that's slightly too small.

To the OP: I think instead of prejudging your DK-40's capacity to pull that BB, try it and see what the two can do. I think you'll be surprised at what the ability of the DK-40 actually is. I know mine surprises me all the time. Give it, the BB and yourself, a chance in the real world applications.

This is my 3rd one! My first was (is) a gill sr25 72" with flip down scarifiers. I leave that at our farm. Then I was able to find a roll over box blade that I leave at my 6 acre property. I'm barely under my 7k trailer rating with just the tractor so I leave the box blades at each location. My gill box is over 900 pounds.
