Garage Vehicle lift

I have a two post and now would hate to be with out it. My cieling is not quite 12', so had to put it between the trusses. The only thing I do not like about it is, everyone thinks you are now there free mechanic. Best thing to counter that is, keep a tore down vehicle near it.

While buying new is wonderful, there are so many car repair places going out of business that used lifts are plentiful, at least in the cities I live in.

A AMERICAN made hoist , FOR SURE! (since we don't make any in canada)

I have a 11K Snap-On lift. Made in Canada by Wheeltronics marketed under the name John Bean up there and Snap-On here. Bought it used for $1650 (or stole it).

For the smaller buildings I though I saw a rotating lift at NT that would let you turn your car on the side. I cant seem to find the link now.

Just the floor is in need of repair, And getting on the floor jacking vehicles is no longer my favorite thing to do.

Since you need to repair the floor anyway, why not dig and line a
pit or "mechanic's bay"? Mine is 3' wide, 3' deep and 6' long. No
more jacking up cars, unless taking the wheels off.

I saw on RFDTV the shop of the year!!! It had a lighted mechanics pit with a whole lot of other goodies. The shop was amazing.

I think pits are illegal, to easy to die from fumes, unless you have some ducting hooked up, I know around here pits won't fly.
My bro's two post lift is a Mohawk. It's seen a lot of cars and trucks and have had no problems what so ever.
I am contemplating putting the lift on a slab outside and building the garage later:)

Surely you jest?

Nope. Just pointing out a downside to a scissor lift (or a pit): you can't use it for work that requires removing the wheels. Tires, brakes, and a few other things are just not an option with something that lifts from the rubber rather than the chassis.
