While I haven't done it for a lift I have installed foundations for numerous machines on a much larger scale. Contact the company of the lift your buying and ask for what you need to install it. If a 4" floor isn't adequate then you can cut the floor for the post bases and dig it down to give you a solid foundation. The lift company should be able to advise you on the size hole you will need.
