I market garden a few patches as well as garden for a kitchen garden and this year an herb garden. I plant with a Covinton planter and cultivat with a one row cultivator and my Farmall Cub. I also add organic material in heavy mulches to aid in weed control and soil building. aI often do this in between rows. I plant my squash early and late really close together and the plants shade themselves and crowd out grass. I also plant onions and garlic bulbs in and around my tomatos and lettuce to ward off rabbits and bugs.
I also have experimental gardens that are a 5 foot tiller width and about 30 feet long eac for different items like Luffa sponges, scalloped squash and other things this year. I the plant short rows l across the widths some times in hills where I can tend them from oneside with a hoe. Im also building a rabbit hutch to fir this row method to fertilize the experimental gardens
