Glenn, that's why you grow the kids...so they can pull all the weeds. Those pictures were taken after a spell of dry weather that allowed us to really clean the garden. We use troy built tillers, and till first, then use a one row cultivator to throw loose dirt up around plants to cover small weeds. (we plant rows wide enough to get the tractor thru ). But in the end, nothing beats just pulling the remaining weeds by hand.... and most people don't want to spend the time. Also, when the plants get big...then nothing works but your hands. On a smaller garden, you can mulch to keep weeds down...but that is not practical on a 2 acre garden. It was always fun to watch people drive by and gawk at the stuff.
I am having the same problem as you this year, as we are getting rain every 2-3 days, and my weed crop is taking over. Maybe I will post a picture of this yr's weed crop tomorrow.
