I found some info to campare the 1700,---to---> 2000 and found that the ym2000 is 10" overall longer @108" then the 1700@ 98" but this could been in the frame and has no mention of the hood,... the width of both the 2000 & 1700 are the same @ 44" wide, the strange thing that I read was that the 1700 is heavier in weight @ 1829 lbs and the 2000 being @ 1664 lbs

DnD, one thing i have noticed is that no ones spec sheets match. I have seen the 2000 listed from what you have posted to like 1900 lbs. My ym240 am. version, lists the 240 at i think not quoting here, but 1700 lbs, basically what you have said. The weird thing is that no one seems to agree on its HP. I have seen it listed on these big sales sites as 23 hp and 25 hp when its 24? The wheel bases also seem to vary from place to place? I was told the reason some of the smaller tractors are heavier is that there an older design, if i remember right the 1700 was an earlier tractor in some years than the 2000, but recalling from memory?

One reason that i had thought of in the past of why some of the smaller hp's are heavier is that they are the same tractor except for the engine, and then the block is probly the same just the displacement is more. So the 1700 has more metal in it as the cylinders are not as big as the 2000 :D . Would it add us to 150lbs i dont think so.

DND it looks like I have the identical tank you do. I can see the BLK on yours also. My tractor was not a referb either I'm betting it's just the 30+ Yr. Old Tank That has disfigured some over the yrs.All the refurbs I've seen has new White tanks on them. It also seems my hood mounts the same as yours with no adjustment and no dents or bends so I ruled that out.Went through this also when I bought it and came to the conclusion of I can get the cap off not having to raise the hood and it doesn't rub without any leaks NO Harm No foul.;)

I've never seen a post here where someone actually weighed a YM2000/YM240. The US sales brochure referenced from my sig, below, says 1696 lbs. I don't believe it.

Before towing my YM240 home I drove onto a platform scale. Subtracting the known weight (previously weighed separately) of the tow vehicle, and the 2000 lbs on the U-haul's label, my tractor with loader would be 3,000 lbs. This is with its oversize rear tires but with no water ballast in them. Add another 250 lbs for water ballast filled to the 50% level in those large tires, and 65 for the ROPS. I figure after I have an implement* on it I have reached the 4000 lbs that the ROPS is rated for.

*The Leinbach 6 ft disc has a catalog weight of 685 lbs plus ~150 lbs of ballast added before I can't lift it easily. The backhoe is as hard to lift as the disc, and it's weight is carried much closer to the tractor.

Is it possible to put the tank in backwards,(maybe the fill hole is not centered) i cant tell from the parts breakdown. Maybe the tank mounting points are bent or loosened over time.?

The 1829# is for the YM1700D, (4wd), comparing to the YM2000, 1664#, 2wd.

California, I have'nt read anything here either about factual specs on hour Yanmar's . I actually found this bit of info at this site ----> TractorData.com - Yanmar tractors sorted by factory
Ok, that adds to the mystery. TractorData says 2000 lbs for YM240 in contrast to the original Yanmar sales brochure in my sig - which lists 1696 lbs. And TractorData lacks several details which are listed in that brochure and also are shown in the Yanmar factory manuals.

I wonder who provided all that info to TractorData. Could it be a repost from the chart that various gray market dealers have on their websites?

At any rate that 2000 lbs seems more reasonable for mine compared to 1696 lbs. (Or else the loader weighs 1200 lbs???)
