My Harley dealer told me years ago to add Stabil and run the bike until it made it thru the carb. He said never run it dry, cause it will allow the seals to dry. He said this is a bigger problem. Guess the fuel keeps the seals "supple" if you will.
Anyway I followed his advice for the past ten years with all my little motors (weedacker to Harley) without a hitch.

Yes I was joking about the diesel weed eater /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The sucker would probably weigh about 75 lbs ! It's just that everything seems to be going diesel......

There's a pretty good small engine repair shop owner who told me I could use two methods (both methods assume I'm always using fuel stabilizer at all time):

method#1: let the engine run out of gas and store away
method#2: make sure the gas tank is completely full before storing away. He says that when there's not enough gas in the tank, that more gum builds up by evaporation. I've used the second method for a few years and had no issues at all so far (perhaps too because there's less evaporation during our cold winters ?).
