Gas shortages

Right now in South GA, it's up, but I see plenty of fuel trucks out and about. What is going to hurt us is all the evacuees from Irma coming up from Florida. I talked to a friend today who is a hauler for one of our local fuel companies, and he said they're pulling in all the extra drivers they can. They're expecting "doubled demand" by Friday. I'm just topping off every day to keep my truck full, as I usually do, and hoping we can make it through the squeeze. I typically drive close to 200 miles a week for work, not counting personal miles..and we're in the middle of harvest right now...

Oh well...it is what it is. I just pray for everyone affected, and that we skirt through Irma with minimal damage!

The number of closed stations is about at 50% now, down from 90% Sunday. You can tell a station is open from a distance if they have their "new" gas priced at $2.58-$2.59 per gallon. If their price sign says lower you can bet their pumps have "out" bags on the handles. The stations that are in remote areas are still advertising $2.71.

I always kept my truck full but holding out had it down on an 1/8 tank and $30 just put it up to 1/4. If this is due to Harvey then I guess shelling out a few more bucks for gas is pretty minimal damage compared to the poor folks wondering where they are going to live once it is all done. I just wish the powers to be would apply my extra cost at the pumps to the people most affected by the cause of the increase rather then pi$$ it away on something stupid.

I'm just north of Miami, FL. Gas went up $0.65 immediately after Harvey. Now with a Cat 5 Irma headed for us, there may not be any gas stations left. Count your blessings, as they say.

My brother lives in Hollywood. Just talked to him today...he talks like he's gonna stay and try to ride it out. Hard headed and such...

Gas Buddy sent out a Gas Prices Rising in Michigan alert yesterday. The truck, having only been driven home from the gas station after fueling, is still full. The car was on E so I decided to fill it up. Found one station still at 2.479 everywhere else was up to 2.799. Wish I had thought to take the mower and woodsplitter cans
Still not seeing signs of supply issues here.

Drove to Austin most gas stations now open price has settled to $2.599 per gallon.
On the way back I stopped at the Supper Buc-ee's in Bastrop they only had regular gas and it was only $2.35. Also half of their diesel pumps were out.

I noticed gas prices are coming back down. $2.39 seems to be the latest price. Still .20 cents above what it was before Harvey, but a lot better then the peak of $2.59

I have not seen any outages but I did notice that diesel and 87 octane gas was $2.65 at one station. Higher grades of gas were over $3.00 a gallon.
