Gasoline $3.00 a gallon...how soon ???

Hmmmm, I read that corn burning stoves are fuel effecient and it is a renuable fuel source, maybe, just maybe, a corn fired steam engine to run the vehicles to beat the oil shortage. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif JohnJ

Gasoline prices are definitely rising in my area. I usually buy gas at the Wal-Mart (Murphy USA) because they usually have the best prices. I bought gas on 3/4/05 for $1.749 and the next day on 3/5/05 for $1.799, and I noticed today, 3/8/05, it's $1.889. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Last Thursday on my way to work, gas was a $1.819 for regular unleaded. When I went home it was $2.099. Lucked out and found one place that I had bypassed earlier in the week because they were $1.899 and now was happy to get it at the price. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif We sure are driving the Honda Accord more at 30 MPG than we are the Silverado at 19 - 20 MPG. I still like driving the truck more though, except when it comes fill up time. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yes, Carefull on that finite word with Natural Gas. Oil is finite, Natural Gases are not. And it is too bad the US of A has lobbied the LNG industry out of this country.

Natural gas as I know it is a byproduct of oil. If there is gas, then there is oil.

The good news is that oil may not be dead dinosaurs. There has been some old wells reopened and there is now oil in them again. It very well may be a natural thing.

Any one have a well on their property?? There are oil wells all around me, and I own my mineral rights. 80 bucks a barrel might make it worth looking for here.

I would love to see the futures market quit raising the cost of gas every time some sheik peeks under the walls of his tent. It never ceases to amaze me that some comment from an OPEC clown with result in a jump in gas prices ... that day ... of 20-25 cents. Yep, that comment about production next week or next month obviously included the refined gas that's already in the tanks. Some day I'd like to see a 20-25 cent DECREASE based on a rumor that Kennedy and Kerry will stop obstructing ANWR drilling ... like that'll ever happen.

Hmmmm .... wonder what would actually happen if those doofi in congress had to pay for their own fuel .....

True to a point - Natural gas sources could include methane, propane, ethane, butane and hydrogen air mixtures.

Cow flagulations and corn crops come to mind.

I sold my diesel and never looked back 3 years ago. My cars get 24 to 25 mpg on the way to work (side roads)

Gas $1.87 and Diesel $2.39

I really could carless about th price of fuel. I do not own a diesel or SUV. If you bought one, that is part of owning one.

I drive 35000 miles per year in my GMC Sierra. It gets about 18 mpg (gas). At $2 a gallon thats $324 a month for gas. At $3 a gallon it would be $486 a month

If I buy a little toyota and get 30 mpg, then the fuel would be $194 a month at $2 and $291 at $3. So I would save $130/mo at $2 and $195/mo at $3.

The $130 a month is not quite enough to make me give up my truck (I have to have SOME kind of truck for occassional hauling). But the $195/mo difference starts to get my attention.

But even then, I'll bet the full-size pickup won't depreciate as much as a little toyota, although this, too, could change given the gasoline prices.

There is a point in here somewhere that alternative fuel sources will become economically viable. I pray we come up with something soon enough that the middle east ends up having to choke on their oil.
