Only run 87 octane myself, except for the generator, mower, chain saw and assorted small engines which get premium. The 87 has done me good, makes my little 4 banger knock a bit going uphill under load, but it hasn't hurt it in the last 320,000 miles...
I heard that home heating oil was expected to be high this winter due to a break down at a refinery. (It's ALWAYS a break down at the refinery, or a fire, or routine maintenance.) Since this is essentially diesel, I expect you won't see much drop at the pump, at least until spring.
