I was just wondering what kind of band saw you have in your shop and cost.

The rock didn't come from my place. However, when we built our new house, we tore down an old house that my great grandparents lived in. It was on the same spot as our the new house. We had some of that rock mixed in with the rock they brought in to do the house. It gave it kind of a neat look with some historical recognition.

The saw is an Ellis 1800. It goes for around $3200. I save up my pennies for several years to buy this saw. But, I should be able to pass it on to one of my kids.

Great project!!! Nothing says Texas like a nice entrance to your land.

One of the things I really enjoy when driving the back roads here is seeing some of the amazing entrances people create for thier homes. Yours is gonna be one of those!!!!

My center piece came in and I’ve got it welded in place. One thing about Texas is you have a lot of neat symbols to choose from. The star is a bit overused, but hard to beat for the main center piece. It wasn't much more expensive to have the star made than what it would have cost me to build it myself. If I had a hydraulic powered ring roller, I could have saved some money.

The star is double sided and made from 14ga steel. The rings are 1/8” thick and 4” and 2”. It’s sturdy but not too heavy for the gate.
