Gated Entrance Project

Stars seem to be all the rage around here too. All over peoples houses, gates, fences, BBQ pits etc. My wife and I like to joke around as she says, "Look, another Californian just moved to Texas, no maybe a Chicagoan!", the star is usually a dead giveaway. (I gotta good friend from Chicago with the BIGGEST star ever on his house, I get a good chucle every time I see it.)

It looks good on your gate though.

I'm going with a satin black. I went to great pains to get satin black in the type of paint I wanted aiming for a 30% sheen, but ended up with a pretty glossing looking paint. I’ve already sandblasted, primed and painted the outer pipe work.

The gadget you see on the back of the tractor is a Belltec. It’s post hole digger. This is about the only kind of post hole digger you can use around here due to the rock. It has replaceable carbide tips and uses hydraulics to put down pressure on the auger. It’s strong enough to lift the back of the tractor off the ground if you don’t get the relief valve set right.

I’ve got to do a bit more fence work on the front side before I can get the gate hung. Something about keeping the cows in… So, it will be a couple of weeks before I can get the gate painted. I’ll also need to get the rest of the pipe work sandblasted/primed/painted before I hang the gate.

Gary,

I really hate it when work and life get in the way of a fun project, but understand that it happens from time to time. hahaha

Just be sure to keep us updated on your progress when you get a chance!!!!!
