Gathering Materials for a Homemade Snow Cab for my John Deere X300

The 45's are done and now I am printing some TEE's. Meanwhile I will be working on the top again and plan on posting some pics in the next week or earlier. As per someones comment about the lights I decided to buy some 'marker' lights.

I bought these lights: Amazon.com: 2 Amber 2 Red LED 2" Round Clearance/Side Marker Light Kits with Light and Grommet Truck Trailer RV Pack of 4: Automotive

I bought two sets so I have 4 each of the amber and red. I will be mounting the amber ones in the very front and front sides just below the top at the corners and the red will be mounted in the very rear and rear sides just below the top at the corners. They will be wired into a flasher.

I plan on getting the top finished and pre-drill holes for all my stuff to be mounted then I will be painting it and then mount most of the stuff while sealing/caulking so it will be ready to work with the frame.

I have several ideas on how the canopy will be mounted and those ideas are still being refined. I will detail what I come up with when I get there!

Today I designed some brackets to hold the marker lights: THESE LIGHTS----> Amazon.com: 2 Amber 2 Red LED 2" Round Clearance/Side Marker Light Kits with Light and Grommet Truck Trailer RV Pack of 4: Automotive

I decided to put some 1x4 around the bottom edge of the cab top so I can have a place to mount these marker lights. I will drill a 2.5" round hole where I wish to mount them and then mount these brackets over that hole. It should give a nice clean look. I designed a square bracket and a round bracket. I printed the square one and am now printing a round one. I think i will like the round one better. Here are the two designs:





Once the round one is done then I will add pics of each.

On a side note I have another 3d printer kit I will be putting together at some point. I wish I had it done now as I could get more done on the 3d printing side of things!

After printing both square and round brackets, I will be going with the round ones! It's a much nicer looking and cleaner setup I believe. The following are the two....

Any more progress with your cab? I'm hoping to build my conapy(roof got future cab) this weekend on my tractor and plan to use 3/4 emt conduit as well. and eventually build a full cab with it.

I would love to see more of this project. I like your use of 3D printing, the printers and materials have become amazing. My middle son has started doing a lot of pre-production modeling for several companies and I can't believe how strong some of the filaments are! I don't mean to oversimplify it as a process or as a business but it's almost as easy as:

Step 1. Turn on your printers.
Step2. Let them run.
Step3. Return product and collect the money you "printed" :thumbsup:.
